We are deeply saddened to share that we have lost our beloved Leona Humchitt, Climate Action Coordinator for the Haíɫzaqv Climate Action Team. Leona was not only a leader in our work but also our mother, auntie, friend, and mentor who dedicated her life to protecting Haíɫzaqv lands and waters.

Her unwavering commitment to climate action, Indigenous sovereignty, and community well-being leaves a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire us. Leona’s work bridged generations, ensuring that future Haíɫzaqv youth would inherit a healthier, more sustainable world. Her voice, wisdom, and fierce advocacy will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

    Executive Director

    Káníɫkás Desiree is the Executive Director for the Haíɫzaqv Climate Action Team, providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for all initiatives, including managing organizational resources, guiding team efforts, and ensuring alignment with the Haíɫzaqv worldview and Clean Energy Plan. Desiree continues to lead efforts to strengthen marine-based food sovereignty through community engagement, strategic planning, and partnership building.

    Clean Energy Advisor

    Ayla is the Clean Energy Advisor for the Haíɫzaqv Climate Action Team, offering strategic guidance to advance clean energy initiatives and support the Haíɫzaqv Community Energy Plan.

    Project Manager

    Flora is the Project Manager for the Haíɫzaqv Climate Action Team, overseeing the implementation of the Haíɫzaqv Community Energy Plan to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

    Assistant Project Manager

    Malarie is the Assistant Project Manager for the Haíɫzaqv Climate Action Team, supporting the planning and execution of six climate action projects, managing progress tracking, stakeholder follow-ups, scheduling, and maintaining project documentation.

    Project Coordinator

    Zuleika is the Project Coordinator for the Haíɫzaqv Climate Action Team, responsible for the day-to-day management of the community’s clean energy and climate resilience initiatives. Focused on planning and executing projects, coordinating resources, and ensuring all efforts algin with the Haíɫzaqv worldview and the community's shared vision for sustainability.

    Mercedes supports the Haíɫzaqv Climate Action Team with administrative tasks, including website and social media management, helping to share the team’s work on climate resilience and energy sovereignty with the community and beyond.

    Eryn works with the Indigenous Clean Energy Social Enterprise and serves as an Energy Mentor for the Haíɫzaqv Climate Action Team, supporting their efforts in advancing clean energy solutions and building capacity for energy sovereignty.
